"At an early age I discovered my aptitude for drawing and would spend all of my spare time, pencil in hand, drawing everything I could observe. My interest in art influenced my choice of studies and I have a BA in the History of Art, Architecture and Design.
Through word of mouth, and the help of True Colours Art Gallery, I have received numerous commissions, primarily for portraits, many of which are featured in my portfolio here.
My art is based on your photographs but I aim to capture more than just a copy of the photo. My caricatures I prefer to create with soft pastels. I work in a painterly style and through the use of brush marks and colour I endeavour to capture personalities in my work, essentially making the paintings "come alive".
I also produce original paintings, working in a variety of medium, including watercolours, oils and pastel. My choice of subject matter is varied and includes figure painting, landscapes and animals. Recently I have begun to experiment with abstract art.
Colour is a strong theme that runs through all of my work and a few artists that inspire me are Renoir, Modigliani and the expressionists August Macke and Franz Marc."
