"I grew up in Umuzechi, a small village in the countryside of Nigeria.
During the course of my study of MA Fine Art at the Nottingham Trent University, I was able to establish an understanding of a wider cultural context by blending Nigerian and Nottingham visual ideas and symbols in my painting and I was greatly influenced by the De Vinci Mona Lisa painting when we visited the Louvre.
My works today are grounded in riddles depicting a variety of activities and this allows my audience to interpret them based on their own psychology. However, the message behind those strokes is also as important as the subject. The possibility exists very strongly that we could live in harmony with everyone in our society and I have clearly demonstrated this through my previous works.
In my portrait of the Lord Mayor of Nottingham I have included a landscape of my village behind as a link to my story and it will help to keep the memory of my experiences in Nottingham alive.
I will be eternally grateful to Julie for taking me under her wing."
